Articulation

February ‘26: The Gate of Expression
Edition 26

The Courage of Specificity.

If resonance is what warms the sound,
then articulation is what shapes it’s edges.
It is clarity. Specificity. Precision.

Not that we need to be precise all the time, that would be exhausting.
But if clarity is accessible, it becomes a choice.

I’m noticing this entire Season of Expression has been about access.

Access to breath.
Access to vibration.
Access to choice.

I once heard someone say: Direct communication is uncomfortable i
f you are used to communicating through subtext.

I can be a subtext communicator.
I scan the room to inquire what I THINK you might be feeling.
What I think you might be assuming about me.
And then I navigate based on that assumption.

Over the last handful of years, I’ve been around more direct communicators,
and it has been game-changing.

It is so nice to trust that if you have an issue, you will tell me.
If I ask for a favor, you can say no.

I used to be so nervous to ask for anything
because I was afraid you’d say yes out of obligation.
I was so weary of what your words said because I was SURE that you were trying to cover up what you were really thinking, protect me or misguide me in some way.

But as I stopped communicating through subtext
and leaned into directness, the world became clearer. Safer.
