Tension as a friend
building a relationship through breath + voice.
Where are you holding tight within yourself right now?
Is it in your breath…In your jaw…. your hands… your forehead…
Where does tension live?
So much of expression isn’t about finding the right words or the right tone…
Just as walking is not only taking a series of steps, but the push and the pull of our our muscles in a specific way to allow for those steps to be taken.
The amount of tension that is required in order for that body to stay upright is immense, and often goes unnoticed because it is helping to serve the greater goal of getting from there to here. There is ease in the system.
How often, when ease is not present but pain is, how clear the amount of tension being called upon is noticeable.
Highlighting the places where extra effort or care is needed.
So what if tension isn’t something to eliminate, but something asking to be listened to?
