Kindness as our Guide
This week is an invitation to soften judgment, ask better questions, and remember that kindness doesn’t require agreement, only awareness.
Sometimes the compromise is me stepping away and taking myself out of a situation that I find unacceptable.
May you be met with grace, and may you offer it, where you can, in whatever shape that makes.
Fear as information....
Fear is not a failure. It is information.
I get a clear sense of what is important to me.
If I can pause, if I can slow down.
If I can ask that fear to “sit down for a cup of tea,”
Maybe I can listen in to what it is really asking of me.
Maybe I learn something.
Maybe I can honestly meet myself in this very moment,
exactly as I am.
Creativity is Inherent.
Whether I am opening a curtain to let the morning light in,
washing the dishes in the kitchen sink, preparing my taxes in spreadsheets and sweatpants.
I don’t need to wait for the perfect moment, the wide berth of space, the boundless energy I think I need in order to have a creative moment.
Creativity doesn’t need me to have a week off of work for it to arrive.
I don’t need the fancy notebook to begin.
It moves through me, through us in the ordinary rhythms of life.
It is accessible with out any fancy bells or whistles.
The mundane, the monotony also desires to have the company of inspiration.
Empty Space
Without the space between, without the pause or the longing, without the emptiness, the impact of when connection happens or abundance abounds, the sweetness of reconnection or receiving can get lost in the hustle and bustle of all the things flowing everything everywhere all at once. Just as we explored in duration + tempo, if music had no rests…. If the notes were constant and no variation? Is that even music, or is it just noise?
Something Old... Something New...
To experience something new I must surrender the expectation
that I know what should be.
I can’t always do this easily.
I too often compare my experience with those around me, using an inappropriate measuring stick for if I am “okay”, if I am “doing it right”.
I am steeped in my own identity, my own habits to the point where I may not even know HOW to try a new way of being.
Topography
The patterns we make reveals the meaning we create through where we place ourselves.
It also reveals where we go without thinking.
What happens if we allow kinesthetic response to inform our patterns?
Am I following an impulse to be close to something or someone? Or am I being repelled to move in an opposite direction?
Is my pattern a seeking or a repelling?
Kinesthetic Response
Kinesthetic Response.
This is the act of movement, or being moved, in response to someone or something. Kinesthetic, simply meaning your senses are engaged, your physically active in your experience.
A response, the reply.
The ouch to the pinch. The pull to the push.
A true indicator if you are listening, if you are engaged.
This ViewPoint lives in the realm of time, as it can only be experienced in the moment that is happening.
Gesture + Repetition
Gesture is born from space — the way energy takes form, how an impulse finds its outline in your body or in the space around us.
Repetition lives in time — the way form deepens through return, how what is repeated becomes transformed.
Where Gesture has a beginning, middle, and end,
Repetition sometimes feels as if it has no end at all.
Architecture
Within Anne Bogart’s View Points, working with Architecture is to move with the space itself. Allowing the environment or the architecture of the room to become an active participant in the relationship.
This can get overlooked quite easily. I can think of the walls of the room, the objects within it as inanimate, non-movable monoliths that are there to navigate AROUND…. Versus information, reflectors, amplifiers to navigate WITH.
